Snyder is a local and people drop his name now and then. I pretended like I knew who was until I Googled him. Also, did you know a film about him just debuted in San Francisco? Here is a local blogger (I read daily) who mentions it.

http://jeffpelline.wordpress.com/2010/04/02/foothills-poet-gary-snyder-film-to-debut-may-3-in-s-f/

On another literary note. If you have ever read "Angle of Repose," it takes place in Grass Valley at the famous house designed my San Simeon architect Julia Morgan. Our farmers Market just opened at the house which you can go in, but is by no means restored. It was incredible. Ramshackle and majestic and "real" as in not Disnyfied. Here is a link to that...

http://jeffpelline.wordpress.com/2010/04/18/scooplet-county-growers-market-relocating-to-historic-north-star-house/Moirahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03110304100788151254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4863417462909147257.post-15419895850007618292010-05-09T18:39:00.408-07:002010-05-09T18:39:00.408-07:00You never cease to amaze me with your background. You never cease to amaze me with your background.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15924061349390319473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4863417462909147257.post-16728972919205417062010-05-09T10:03:35.407-07:002010-05-09T10:03:35.407-07:00One vision, different lenses. Rexroth, who spent his early years in my hometown of Elkhart, Indiana, is almost forgotten in his onetime hometown.

And thank you for reminding me of Gary Snyder. His poetry especially influenced my daughter Sarah, who received her MFA in Creative Writing from Maryland last December (though she's still looking for work.)steve on the slow trainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18257811143869341854noreply@blogger.com
