Hey Elizabeth - thought I'd add that (as you know) Owen's death was listed as SUDEP but everyone agreed it was a diagnosis of elimination. He'd had a history of very light absence seizures when he was an infant and we hadn't seen one in many, many years. The word 'epilepsy' had never been used until his death.

It's definitely reasonable to say his death was indeed sudden and unexpected/unexplained - but there was nothing to specifically point to this conclusion other than the fact there was just nothing else to point to.

Just for what it's worth. It's possible not all SUDEPs are SUDEPs.

Terrific! I love the idea of stepping back -- my zen teachers used to remind us that a withdrawal into silence and stillness, becoming a leaf or a cabbage, was often better than a mindless response. That's what this poem brings up for me, anyway.

While I agree the sign is 'out there' and it must be challenging to raise your boys seeing this stuff, I thank God the days are over when you hear about going blind with respect to 'dirty' sexual anything.. The gas price is frankly much more hideous to me. My father's name was Frank.

i dont much like that this idea of disappearing speaks to you today. when the disappearing wish comes to me, i am usually not in a good place. i hope this is not true for you. on the other hand, this poem, well, it might just be talking about freedom. that's a different notion altogether.
