Amden, Switzerland, 2007
I'm surprising the boys this morning and not waking them up for school. It's raining here in Los Angeles and since we never have snow days, I'm calling one. We need a mental health day -- I think chocolate chip cookie-making is in order, perhaps a viewing of
True Grit, and pajamas all day.
And maybe we'll listen to this:
I loved "mental health" days when my kids were small. I never bought into the school being in charge of my children and our family schedule. They turned out fine anyway! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteMy first boss said every one should take a mental health day occasionally. I'm in complete agreement. Our boys almost never needed a sick day from school. I suggested those mental health days from time to time and it was a good thing!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I thought it never rained in California!! = )
Enjoy.
Best,
Bonnie
I can't believe I just read this because as the boys were getting ready this morning I thought, maybe I should just call it a rain day for them. I use to do it with the girls all the time. They were all dressed and actually high energy for the day, so off they went. But as the boys were leaving, I was reminded that rainy days mean s'mores and hot chocolate. That I can deliver.
ReplyDeleteTaylor was just remarking this weekend what a magical, amazing time she had last year for her year abroad in Switzerland and she hopes to go back one day. I wish that for her too.
Enjoy your day. Off to the doctors for me with sicko Zoey.
HOW WONDERFUL! How are the cookies coming?
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful snow day!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a great mom! we haven't had any snow days here in CT yet... maybe I'll do the same if it keeps up! Enjoy
ReplyDeleteMom and I did that sometimes too, and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic idea. I will definitely follow suit when my little one is older!
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at this as I sat (FINALLY) alone in my empty house after an entire week of snow days with my two. We baked brownies and cupcakes (inspired by many episodes of Cupcake Wars), had epic snowball fights and stayed up late playing board games every night.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm so freaking thrilled they are back at school today and I get to be ALONE!
Hope your day with the boys was fun and they appreciated your calling it a snow day.
I used to do that for my kids too. Did 'em good. Sounds beautiful and perfect.
ReplyDeletebest. mom. ever. And the perfect day for a "snow" day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a mom! Sounds like a wonderful day in your home sweet home...
ReplyDeleteperfect.
ReplyDeleteand we're having crazy rain after crazy snow , nice and slushy.
Good call.
ReplyDeleteLOL -- I see Bonnie (and probably about a million other people) beat me to the "it never rains in California" joke. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteperfection!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. Can I come live with you?
