My OSCAR Picks even though I'm finding it unbearable so far

The four letters after that didn't make the picture frame, but they spelled O S C A R, and I wouldn't say I loved them, but I live in the middle of it all. As the helicopters begin their roving in our neighborhood and the blimp flies overhead, I'll slide some mozzarella sticks in the oven for the boys and tell you my picks -- both whom I want to win and whom I think will win:

  1. Could Seth McFarlane be any less funny? Ugh.

  2. I wish Beasts of the Southern Wild would win, but I haven't seen SLP. As a feminist and woman, I would love to see Riva win, but I don't seem to be able to help my deep love for J-Law. Shit, Hathaway just won. Condolences. Maybe knock one back to keep it down.

  3. Why so negative about Les Mis? Joanne

    1. Ugh. I hate musicals, Joanne, and the trailers to that one made me want to poke an icepick through my eye. I know that's very dramatic, but I've always, always despised musicals. They make me feel embarrassed -- heck, I don't know. It's irrational.

  4. I don't mind GOOD musicals, but from what I hear about Les Mis...the movie version, anyway...it's not. Still, I like Anne Hathaway. I am perplexed about Jennifer Lawrence and SLP. From the outside it just looked like some little rom-com, but I suppose I need to see it. I did like Argo, but best picture? Really?

  5. Haven't seen Silver Linings, but I'm dying to. Loved Moonrise Kingdom.

  6. Hmmmm. I need to get out more. I did see Argo & Moonrise Kingdom but am otherwise unqualified to comment. ...Obviously that didn't stop me.

  7. I love your think and want list .... it would be fun if that were how it were done. "We think You won, but we want You to win" .... hah!

  8. I am a lover of musicals -- it's what I grew up with. Musical theater -- it just doesn't get better than that! I thought Les Mis was an expert film translation of the play. It got a standing ovation in the theater where I saw it. But I notice that, like Opera, which I don't like, you have your musical lovers and your musical haters. Not much in between. Passion is evoked in either case.

"It's your thang, do whatcha gotta do."
