By the way, I don't want to hear anything about helmets, O.K.? And when The Husband heard that I will inevitably hear from readers about helmets and safety, he got all Swiss and testy and started ranting about Americans and their safety shit, but I didn't include that in the video. Trust me, I've heard it, and ya'll don't deserve that.
I feel like I need to crawl on my knees to Mecca, now, and not in supplication but in thanksgiving.
Private videos. :-(
ReplyDeleteAh! They work now! That is amazing! What an awesome invention.
DeleteWonderful!! My Polish husband does the same rant but I am quick to remind him that he is an American by choice, not birth. Shuts him right up.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Love it. Just love it!
ReplyDeleteAs a FOS (Friend of Sophie) do I get a ride?
ReplyDeleteawesome to death!
ReplyDeleteSophie looks very comfortable!
ReplyDeleteThat is a kind of miracle. What a cool invention! I can see so many fun outings in your future - and Sophie's!
ReplyDeleteThis is thrilling! Sophie looks so elegant and serene. (And my husband is the same way about helmets and such.)
ReplyDeleteSo great!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Looks wonderful! I love your comment about everyone getting skinny. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with your husband that helmets are excessive for neighborhood rides. When we grew up no one used helmets, did they? And I was on a bike all the time. (If I were biking on the highway, I might feel differently.)
I'm smiling, big time!
ReplyDeleteAh! What a beautiful machine! And given in such love. The Love Cycle. Here's to many miles of joy, Sophie's hair blowing in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteThis brought tears to my eyes, and because you live in LA, you'll get to enjoy it year-round! SO wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSOPHIE THE STRIDER
ReplyDelete(smiling with my whole self)
love,
Rebecca
ps. I love hearing your voice Elizabeth.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful machine--and bright yellow, all sunny, all for sophie.
ReplyDeletehelmets, schmelmets. i made my kid wear one, i despise wearing mine.
(fun to hear your voice, too, elizabeth!)
I can't even tell you how much I love this. There are so many things to love - the Duet, the spirit in which it was offered and received, Sophie sitting so regally in the seat, an honest glimpse of The Husband (especially after he has just spent a week helping give you respite), the weather, the helmet discussion, and hearing your voice on the video! I can't wait to hear how the boys react when they get home. I predict many more videos of Oliver riding Sophie around with that goofy grin of his.
ReplyDeleteSuch love.
I remember the joy of the first ride! Does Sophie love it? It took me a while to figure out the best gears, and we live in a really hilly area, so I'm happy for the power assist for the hills for the extra push! I'm so excited for you all!
ReplyDeleteFantastic. I would love to see if Maggie could be secured into that.
ReplyDeleteI won't question the helmet, but I do have a question about the first video. Did you fall over near the end? Suddenly it was sideways and there was no more speaking. Were YOU wearing a helmet?
The videos wer not available but Sophie looks very comfortable. I hope you all enjoy the bike with her.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!! I pray you all, especially Sophie, have years of joy with this bike!! Our autistic daughter COULD pedal a bike (might need a trike for the balance) but she won't pedal. I wonder about one of these for her, but I know they are expensive. And we are not big bike riders, but it is a thought.
ReplyDeleteCarrie T.
Oh I love this. It looks like a marvellous piece of engineering, that bike. How strangely fascinating it is to see people I've never met cycling down a road on the other side of the world.
ReplyDeleteThe morning was beautiful already. And then I saw your videos and the lovely photo of Sophie, and heard your voice. So much magic in matching words and voice. I'm going to drink coffee on the patio among the hummingbird flowers and golden blanket flowers and herbs and ponder the great beauty that awakens us, over and over again. Even the name, Duet, says so much about our interconnectedness.
