(this speaks to me)

Have you read any of these?

  1. Being mom to a medically fragile child has forced me into a cold and flu hermit. When I was traveling earlier this month, I kiss-kissed on each cheek, and hugged more than I do at home, and it made me think, that human connection at the moment of saying hello, and good-bye is pretty special. But I will not implement it at home...we wear face masks and have lysol at the ready here. ;)

  4. have you seen Anne Carson's book NOX? you would love it if you're a Catullus fan though I realize this is not really about Catullus but about kissing which is the best thing in the world. that Anne Carson book is truly gorgeous NOT an e-book it needs to be (kissed.)

    1. I have a copy of that book, Radish King, and adore it. Truly a work of art in every respect.

  5. I have been reading Joan Didion all morning. I believe in her and Jeanette Winterson like some people believe in the Bible.

  6. To me, what catches my eye is that he asks for 1000, and then 100, and then 1000 more. Why does he reduce the amount to 100 in the middle? It's almost as if he still wants the kisses, but needs a bit of a break before going full force again.

    1. I wondered about that, too, Neil, and when I read about him, I got no clues. He's an interesting guy, though -- so weird to have his work from the 1st century! Evidently he was besotted with a woman he called Lesbia who was married -- he, too, wrote some homoerotic stuff.

  7. Looks as though I have some reading to do....

Essay collections are among my favorite things to read, though, so I didn't need much convincing. I think you might enjoy "Animal, Mineral, Radical" by BK Loren. Great essay collection!
