And all we have to do is open ourselves to it. Thank you for this. Given what I posted today, it is absolutely perfect, because it does all exist simultaneously, the love that is so wonderful and painful at the same time, and the hatred that is so awful but feels so energizing. While living in So. Cal from 1978 - 1989 I too had similar feelings about the name "Ralph's". It was hard to take my grocery store seriously based on the name. I was in my 20's and did a volunteer stint at an orphanage in TJ. The main benefactor to this particular orphanage was Tony Ralphs -- of the grocery store fame. He was such a cool guy...I met him and saw him several times as he was very hands on at the orphanage (still is). Everytime I visit CA I make it a point to go to Ralph's because at least one of the Ralph's family has made a difference.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4863417462909147257.post-45769968428421496452014-01-30T15:18:19.518-08:002014-01-30T15:18:19.518-08:00"...but at some point in it, I tried to conve..."...but at some point in it, I tried to convey how my life is at once horrible and perfectly all right." When I had a scary diagnosis hovering over me, I called my friend who is a doctor, crying and saying, "But I just want to know if I'm going to be all right!" And she said, "You're going to be all right, but you may need to revise your notion of what 'all right' is." And I didn't want to—one never does—but she was right.
