Dry, Dry, Dry

I'm dry as a bone with nothing to say.

But I promised to submit something each month on the 21st over at Hopeful Parents, a wonderful website.

So that's where I am today, with a little something from my book. Let me know what you think here or there.

And other than that, I'm dry.

**and the picture above is from a really weird website that I found online about Ezekiel and the valley of the dry bones and all that wild, crazy Biblical stuff. You can read it here.

  1. When I connect to HP, you are not there...nothing of yours at all. Do you know what's going on? Is it just me?

  3. All beautiful gardens get parched sometimes. They get bloomed out. You bloom continually with roses for your family and thorns for those who would wound your dear ones. How could you not be parched beyond all imagining sometimes?

They say when the unexpected rain comes, the desert is at its most extravant, surprising with new flowers in the morning.

  6. i think i know why you may be in a dry spell.... bc when you write you write from an authentic and raw space in your heart - you tap into the most sacred and painful emotions. That's got to take a lot out of you!! :) but as a reader, i find your narratives compelling, poetic, transformative, and full of both sorrow and hope. I adore your writing! the prologue to your book is phenomenal. I wish you luck with it, though you wont need it. talent trumps luck!

I can relate to everything in the story at hopeful parents. From the seizure to the explaining to the other kids, to being alone during it, to the diapers... to it all. i wish we didnt leave on opposites sides of the continent bc i think we'd have a bunch in common :) - oh, plus the writing. though youre in a whole different league than me.

i too am birthing a memoir and have a second book idea i started but may put on hold to generate the memoir first. i hope we see BOTH our works on the shelves one day. id love it if you kept me posted on your publishing efforts! i have no clue what im doing, myself... :)

ps - the skeleton pic is really kinda oddly cool... :)

  7. The post at Hopeful Parents was lovely, Elizabeth. I heard/read that piece before and if I read it again I will love it just as much.

  8. I meant to tell you--I wrote a poem that riffs off those verses in Ezekiel. Almost been taken by a couple of good places. It's a really moving passage.
