Angels and archangels may have gathered there

Some hate him, some love him. I love him. And I love this sad and melancholy song.

  2. Who in this world could hate James Taylor? He has made my world less bleak so many times that I can't begin to count them.

  4. How could anyone hate JT? I'm a HUGE fan...we've heard him many times at an outdoor amphitheater, about 3 hours' drive from here, out in the boondocks. Hearing him play guitar & sing, as the sun goes down behind the bluffs - and its light is reflected in the Columbia River - and watching the stars come out, is TOTALLY worth the hassle of getting there and back. I'm just saying.

  7. I first heard "In the Bleak Midwinter" on the "Midnight Special," a Chicago-based folk rasio show, with a female vocalist I didn't get the name of. I don't think of it as sad and melacholy, though Christina Rosetti's lyrics are a tad sentimental. But I still love it, sentimental or not.

  8. I do know of some people who don't like James Taylor and feel that he's namby-pamby. Oh, well...

Karen - I went to college in Chapel Hill, NC, JT's alma mater. I saw him many times there and there's nothing like singing "in my mind I'm going to Carolina" along with him at Carolina!

Steve - I KNEW you would know that Christina Rosetti wrote the poem on so long ago...

  10. Thanks for letting me hear this beautiful song. Ever since I heard You´ve got a friend I love his music. Call me old fashioned...but this is what Christmas music should be.
