What's left of the camellia bushes at the Krauts' house next door

Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night.

Rainer Maria Rilke, from Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke

  1. One of my favorite poets as you well know. Here there are some blooms that take my breath away, there is the wisteria that has taken a turn to the right and moved away from the arch, as if on a wing. Love this time of the year. Beautiful shot and very romantic.

  2. Love. I love flowering plants and how they scatter their petals on the ground. Makes a nice carpet on the grass or sidewalk.

  3. I love that verse. It's simply beautiful. And I am also a great lover of camellias. They remind me of my grammy, who used to cut them from the bushes she had in her front yard and float them in crystal bowls all around the house.

There is a garden/greenhouse here on Long Island where the camellias in late winter are in full bloom. It is one of my favorite places to visit.

  4. oh see me, oh pick me, I'm alive ~ they seem to say, and so are you
it's grand. sometimes fleeting, but we can't help but hear , nonetheless.

no camellias in our Southern Ontario zone, so I appreciate this photo.

  7. Good Lord but that is a perfect quote. I swear I CAN hear the shrieking this spring. Oh wait. That might be the birds which are like blossoms themselves, really. Just ones with wings and feathers instead of petals and stems.
    Lovely.
