We're here

and I'm typing away at my dad's fancy MAC computer. Ms. Moon just wrote a post extolling its virtues, and I'm almost convinced. I so need a new computer -- maybe in my dreams --

The flight was uneventful. No trips to the bathroom and no seizures.  At one point, I strolled up the aisle to the bathroom and was stunned at how many people were doodling and diddling on electronics. Ipads and iphones and laptops and DS games and PSPs. I do believe every single passenger had some kind of gizmo attached to their hand. It was quiet, too, because of it -- except for the one poor toddler who screamed his head off for at least a half an hour. There was a giant lady with the word JESUS on her tee-shirt and a group of women in head scarves. There was a bag of pretzels and a package of Twizzlers, a lot of reading in my Kindle (yes, I have a Kindle and I love it -- it doesn't take the place of books, by any stretch of the imagination; it's just a different way to read them -- and I'm as book snobby as they come, so there!) and some divine turkey sandwiches that The Husband set us up with.

All is good.

It's HOT, here, folks -- like a steam bath. I'm in Atlanta for a couple of days and then off to Hilton Head.

  1. yay for no siezures! when we went to Nashville and it was 103 with humidity, i had the idea that the intense heat was burning me away to the essentials of myself..like a cleansing.

  3. Hoorah for relatively uneventful travel, enjoying your Kindle (while still being a "bookie") and using natural humidity to smooth out the wrinkles (that is if you had any which I'm sure you don't).

If I may, I'm voting for the Mac. I have had a number of Dells and loved them but......I'm so happy that I made the switch!

    Enjoy it all!!!!!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  4. I'm so glad, Elizabeth! What a relief to have an uneventful travel day.

You'll be at the beach soon and the heat will feel right there. Hoping for lots of beach pictures of the mermaid.

  5. Good to hear from you, it sounds like an answered prayer about the flying (are you grateful yet?) and I hope the rest of the trip is pleasant, uneventful and relaxing. I too have a Kindle, I love it and I was called an elitist by someone who said I was contributing to the demise of little bookstores at the same time she was explaining how she used her iPhone while at a bookstore to check if Amazon had a certain book cheaper. The irony of it all I guess was obliterated by my elitism. So welcome to the tolerant book of some readers. Love to you and the children.

  6. It's always good to read that someone has made it successfully, and to read that their worst fears did not eventuate.

Now for the rest of the journey and eventually the return.

    Hooray.

  8. Oh, sweet Elizabeth. Your mermaid flew well. I am so happy to hear that. I am so happy to hear all is well and you are safe.
I hope the beach is heaven for you.
And yes, it's hot here in the south, isn't it? Don't melt. Don't move too fast. Stay hydrated.

  9. Before you saunter to best buy and pick up a Macintosh, shoot me an email.

It's sort of what I do.

  13. that sounds like some real traveling mercy .... I always love your little observations. I can totally see the giant lady with what must have been a giant t-shirt and an even gianter Jesus :)

  14. I'm so happy that the flight was uneventful! What great news. I'm surprised to hear that you have a kindle :) I have one and love it, and have convinced many others to buy one too for the simple reason that I find I read MUCH more because of it. I'll always love the feel and smell of books but the kindle makes reading far more convenient. I hope the rest of your trip goes as smoothly as your flight!
