Hmmmmmmm

We are so overstimulated that the ordinary and the commonplace no longer delight us, and ever-higher dramas are created to make us feel alive and important.  How foolish that we do this to ourselves and to our children.

  1. Have I sent you this yet?If so,sorry for the repeat.I put it on our Christmas card this year:

“The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.”~Robert Louis Stevenson

Thinking of you my southern friend.

  6. Was just talking about this, how I need to always remember to not be attracted to drama, but to see past it into the very ordinary and tough meat of the day.

    :)
    hope you're well

  8. This is absolutely my mantra! Don't get me started on how much life passes us by while we're watching The Bachelor and Jerry Springer.(no, not me I threw away our tv and canceled cable about 2 years ago.)And Robert Louis Stevenson! I think one of my favorite peoms of all times is his:

When I was down beside the sea
A wooden spade they gave to me
    To dig the sandy shore.
My holes were empty like a cup.
In every hole the sea came up
Till it could come no more.

Simplicity and the ability to enjoy it is the best gift.
