What I'm thinking about
Right effort is effort with wisdom. Because where there is wisdom, there is interest. The desire to know something is wisdom at work. Being mindful is not difficult. But it’s difficult to be continuously aware. For that you need right effort. But it does not require a great deal of energy. It’s relaxed perseverance in reminding yourself to be aware. When you are aware, wisdom unfolds naturally, and there is still more interest.

The phrase It's relaxed perseverance in reminding yourself to be aware stands out to me. Relaxed perseverance seems possible.
That photograph is making my day. The colors, the textures, the expression on the man's face, the sky, the red skirt, the boots, the perspective!!
ReplyDelete"Wisdom at work..." I like that.
Yeah, I like that. Especially the interest part. Are those the thigh high boots? They seem to have a cutaway at the back of the knee so you can bend your leg... and persevere...
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try for that--as my daughter spends a few weeks here staying on my couch. : )
ReplyDelete"Relaxed perseverance" does seem possible. Maybe. Just maybe.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that relaxed perseverance is the key to being a good mother... So wish i had been born in Asia so i could have learned it thru osmosis. My daughter loved this picture.. my son refused to get off the couch to look at it...his loss. I remained in relaxed perseverance.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice the woman with the thigh high boots until reading A's post. That woman is definitely strutting some relaxed perseverance.
ReplyDeleteLove the quote.
Ooh, I think I need to get me a nice glass of wine and study this quote until I unfold it all the way.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
