Report from the Wilds

Oliver found what he called a trap tossed on the side of the road on our street. He has been outside for hours, messing with it and has set up a line of cheese to its door.

The rope goes through his bedroom window. I have taken a largely laissez-faire attitude toward this endeavor. Reader, if you are worried about raccoons or even rats coming to an untimely end, know that the thought has crossed my mind but it kept on going.

Stay tuned.

  1. I'm no trapper, but it looks like one of those humane kind :)

He just needs a coonskin cap :)

  2. Boys will be boys as the saying goes. As Kimmie says, it looks to be humane. I hate it when my cats bring in their trophies. Not the rats, but the occasional native bird or fish. One of our cats scoops fish out of our fishpond and leaves them as treasures for us to mourn.

Hopefully the significant and desired creatures will outsmart your son's trap. I'll stay posted.

  4. Every boy needs a trap, Mama! My children built their own. Never caught a thing but boy, they had a great time in the endeavors.

  5. My college-aged daughter brought home a bunny. I would put it in that trap if I could.

  6. Boys are such curious creatures...I love them, but I don't always understand them.

  7. Yikes! Maybe Oliver should be encouraged to think about what he'll do with whatever animals he traps...? On second thought, though, having been a boy myself, I'm sure that won't slow him down. :)
