Requiem for a Television

Pop Pop surprised us with the purchase of this flat-screen television:

Rest in peace, 1996 behemoth television that lived with us in New York City, traveled across the country and sat in our living room for so many years. You served us well.

We're just spoiled rotten.

  1. We just replaced our very similar t.v. (it had traveled to Hawaii and back) with a flat screen. I'm sure we are the only people who have one t.v. (and always have had only one) and that one was a dinosaur??? The new one is marvelous!

Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  2. We have a giant old one too. We have talekd about replacing and and I want to, but I absolutely INSIST that the cabinet that it sits in goes too. I won't agree to the TV until I win the cabinet issue. (Steve made the cabinet so he's unnaturally attached to it) It may be awhile yet.

happy Turkey day. Maggie sends Sophie her love

  4. Heh-heh. I think your old one is the same one we have now. I still think of it as new. My husband has been checking the Costco sales for the flat screens but all I can think about is- oh god. I'll have to figure out a new remote and quite frankly, I'm not very good at the one we have now. I have been known to call Jessie who lives in another state to ask her how to do something with it.
    That is the honest truth.

  5. We resisted the flat-screen. Then finally our big old one died Memorial day 2011 with a pop and hiss of smoke. It had a line across the top of the screen for over 2 years and I just wanted to see how long it would last. I have to say, it's nice to not have a TV that is so heavy and huge when I want to clean the dust bunnies.

  9. Hahaha! I'm laughing because we still have our behemoth. In fact, we have two, one downstairs and one ipstairs. And, no, we're not getting rid of it anytime soon. You bet that our little ones want a flat screen, too. :-)

    Greetings from London.
