California is one damn beautiful state,

and I'm so grateful to live here. We left beautiful, snowy Yosemite this morning, the temperature registering 24 degrees, and after driving down winding mountain roads, we hit the highway and traveled through long stretches of orchards and farm land, the blue sky above and the coast only miles away. It's sixty-five degrees and sunny here in Los Angeles, there are mounds of laundry to do and much life waiting.

I hope ya'll had a happy new year's week. I can't wait to show you my photos and will do so tomorrow.

  2. Sometimes even with the ever present laundry, there is no place like home.

  3. I love Yosemite. My sis married in the chapel there -- big party at the Awhanee. A very special magical valley and back country. Did it snow while you were there?

Home again, home again. Laundry or not, it's good to be home. Looking forward to the photos!

  4. I have driven through eastern California many times, coming from Denver to Orange County. Such happy memories. Glad you had a wonderful trip.

  5. Welcome home! It is a beautiful state, isn't it? I forget sometimes. I guess I see too much concrete. I think it's time for a car trip.

  7. So right. Some of my best memories are our visits to Sequoia National Park -- standing in waist high ferns and revering those ancient trees -- plus hiking in the Big Sur, hanging out in Monterrey and Carmel, dinner at Mustard's Grill in Yountville (on our honeymoon almost 30 years ago), and so much more. What a beautiful, diverse state. And, of course, Yosemite. Me too -- can't wait to see your photos + commentary.
