Straight into my arms

I can't shake the feeling that Sophie is sad right now, her big dark eyes implore me to -- what? Do something? Be something? Stop something? Or is she me, me her, big dark eyes -- what? Do something? Be something? Stop something?

You Crawled Out of the Sea

  1. If anyone would be able to tell if Sophie was sad, it would be you. Let me remind you that all of our children are sad at times. Just like us, as you so beautifully said.

  3. When we are close to a person who doesn't talk, emotions can surface in the face of the silent that are, as you said, a communal experience. I felt this with my grandmother. xo

  5. Mermaids who are watery and magical are probably super sensitive to their mother's energy...I think she missed you. Hugs to both of you.

  7. She is a part of your soul and you are a part of hers. Of course you would feel each others emotions. It is a beautiful thing but oh, it must hurt some days.

  10. Dear Elizabeth, whenever I leave my children for a while I feel guilty even though I know they are fine and find my absence merely incidental. This is true to this day even though I know intellectually its silly. I may be a million miles off base but could Sophie be picking up a whisper of what you're feeling? Because truly if there is any hint of guilt you feel send it packing. Your respite was not just for you but for all those you love and who love you too. Just a thought from sunny hot Jamaica where I feel guilty for leaving my 21 year old working son alone in another continent. Mothers!
