Here's a photo of The Brothers with Sophalofa on The Duet. It's a photo of harmony that perfectly captures the joy and wonder of childhood with a twist of acceptance and diversity:
Aren't they sweet?
Then there was this:
That might have been incredibly exploitative, but I didn't want any of ya'll to be jealous of us or anything. Notice how effective my parenting style is as well. You can't see it, but shortly afterward the house went up in flames, I streaked naked down the street, Sophie got up as if she were Lazarus and began reciting Hindu poetry and both boys disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
As if she were Lazarus...exceptional choice. I'm glad they're all enjoying the bike! We've yet to let Abbey peddle Max along, we've told her once she's 16, since it's motorized and can go at a pretty good pace. That and she has a bit of a distraction problem on her own bike. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell that moment on the bike with your three beautiful children happened and you captured it. Whatever happened after, flames, streaking, Hindu poetry, you still have that moment. Henry's getting so tall!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I found a lot of old pics of my kids among my mother's things last week and there is something about my son's 8, 9, 10 year old face, the expression in the eyes, that keeps making me think of Oliver. Sometimes I imagine we are all connected by invisible threads. Hugs.
LOL -- for some reason I can't watch the video. I get a message saying it's private. But based on your descriptions, I can only imagine what it contains!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, such a perfect representation of wonder, joy, childhood, acceptance and diversity, the new generation. You should submit this somewhere?
ReplyDeleteOh Elizabeth. This just made me love you even more. How is that even possible?
ReplyDeleteWhen we were on vacation we saw a family bike riding and the father had his daughter in a Duet. I thought of you.
ReplyDeleteCan you please tell me how to make squabbling siblings disappear in a puff of smoke? I'm assuming the spell has an expiration period and they eventually materialize in their rooms sulking or something, but even one peaceful (vindicated?) moment would be worth it.
ReplyDeleteSo perfect for your whole brood. Your voice when annoyed is as pleasant to hear as when you're not. Can you teach me that one? :)
ReplyDeleteI love you, and the way your beautiful mind works. You integrate humor and joy into the midst of irritation, disappointment and squabbling. Perfect moment, imperfect moment, present moment - it's so Zen.
ReplyDeleteI laughed and laughed! I WAS feeling a little jealous of your 3 in the first picture looking like such loving siblings. Then I watched the short clip and laughed outloud! Just like my family! Glad you are mere mortals like us. :-)
ReplyDeleteCarrie T.
Is must be wrong, how much I love you for posting that 30 second clip, sounding the way I sound every day. Oh I loved it. I made my husband watch it so he too could see: it's not just us.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love that - especially the Hindu poetry recitation part.
ReplyDeletei love hearing your voice!
ReplyDeleteand i love seeing the black and white, and the grays.
Oh my gosh, that is priceless!! Im cracking up at the video!!
