Good morning. I know you're all out there celebrating the birth of our Presidents, but I just wanted to tell you that I changed the formatting of my comment section to Embedding which means that I can reply to each of your comments, particularly when you have a question. This might mean that it's more difficult to comment, so please let me know if you're having trouble. I might have to switch back to the old way.
Oh, and please let me off the hook if I don't reply right away or at all. It'll never be personal (except if you're a troll or someone rude and Anonymous, as opposed to someone thoughtful and Anonymous) and only because I'm lame at it. I do think the comment thing should be a conversation, though, and that I should hold up my side of it. Wish me luck.
Don't you just love that Victorian photo above that I found on the internets? I sure do miss typewriters. I believe that blogging is a sort of conversation, and I look on it that way each day when I sit down to write. It's not a far stretch to imagine myself a Victorian woman of some privilege doing her correspondence each day. Thank you for your community and extra thanks for those of you who leave such thoughtful and interesting remarks. Honestly, I am just so darn grateful for all of you -- readers and commenters alike --
That is a lovely picture! And I feel very much the same way about my blog- I want it to be a conversation. Sometimes I seriously wonder if anyone goes back and reads my comments to their comments. And then I think- well, it doesn't matter. And it doesn't. I like knowing I've kept up my end of things.

DeleteBut let me hasten to add- I don't mind it a bit when bloggers do not answer comments. I am most certain they read them, which is the point.

DeleteCommenting test for me too. When I hear something is different I just cannot stand by and wait to find out how the experience is. So here goes.
ReplyDeleteWhen I visit your blog (and others) I always go into the last post I had already read, because I like to read what others have said. You responding to questions, etc would definitely add to the experience but it is a full experience either way.
And Ms Moon - I personally always go back to read your comments to my comments (and to others). I also get enjoyment out of reading other readers' comments too because we are a community.

DeleteI should be much better about responding to comments. I do it sometimes, and particularly if I am asked a question -- but most of the time I just move on to the next post. I am not upholding my end of the bargain. :)
ReplyDeleteI do ALWAYS read comments, and on blogs where I know the bloggers respond, I go back and read their responses. I like the conversation, I really do. I'm just lazy about my end of the bargain.
I kind of miss typewriters, but it's nice not to have the noise and to be able to skip buying ribbons. :)
I am much like you, then, so don't count on me answering all of them all the time! I don't really miss using typewriters -- but I do love the way the old vintage ones look!
DeleteBlogging IS a wonderful ongoing conversation. I can't say I miss typewriters much… I prefer the ease of a computer keyboard, especially when it comes to corrections!!!
