LA Moms Blog

Twice a month I write for LA Moms Blog. I hope you'll check it out, leave a comment there or here, make some noise, disagree vehemently, agree wholeheartedly or act lukewarm.

  1. opus dei = more trouble. Left a long time ago...never looked back, am the better for it. Visit churches during the weekdays to view the architecture...that's all they're good for now.

  2. I read your post over there at LaMoms, Elizabeth and I can understand where you are coming from. I wonder that it has taken you so long.

The other day my husband's sister who lives in a country town near Melbourne was telling us about how the parish had asked for a priest over the Easter period. As a small community these days they must do without as a rule.

A priest was duly sent. For some reason one of the parishioners checked him out on Google. It turns out this priest had been sent home to Australia from somewhere in America, accused and found guilty of pedophilia.

So what do they do? They send him off to a small rural community. As my sister in law said, maybe they think the country folks are stupid.

I feel for the priests in face of the demands of celibacy and other complex difficulties, but like you and so many others, it's the cover ups that feel so appalling.
