My Boys and an Easter Poem

My father sent this to me this morning on his iPhone. Oliver is holding an Italian traditional Easter bread, and they're both dressed up for church with my parents. Beautiful, right? I miss them terribly.

Here's a wonderful Easter-like poem that I picked up off the Borzoi Reader sight:

Transport
The rose, for all its behavior,

is smaller than the lifelove it stands for,
only briefly brightening,
and even its odor
only a metaphor.
Or so we suppose
just as we suppose the savior
we employ or see next door
is only some hired man
gardening.

  1. Your boys are sooooo handsome. I'm sure this photo makes your missing them even more acute. One more day, is it? Sending love to you!

  2. Such handsome boys!
Are you ok after the earthquake? I'm sure even if you didn't suffer physical damage it would be quite an emotional thing to go thru. Sending prayers your way.

  4. Tomorrow, tomorrow, they'll be home tomorrow...I bet you are excited and happy and I can't wait to hear the stories, particularly from Oliver's perspective.

I hope you had a nice and relaxing Sunday. Love to you all,

Wv, as always say you cannot make this up: unito

  6. Oh Elizabeth - all of your kids are so amazingly gorgeous. I've been reading and enjoying your updates all week (mostly on my iphone while away) and completely relate to all of it. Abe often travels East by himself and I feel like our family loses a bit of its balance. It will be wonderful to hold those boys in your arms tomorrow!!

  7. The boys look happy. You have handsome sons. I think the cutest thing about them is the gleam of merriment peeking from their eyes.

  8. Your boys are so handsome! I'm sure you missed them so, although time spent with the grandparents is precious and unequaled.

  9. Hi Elizabeth, I'm doing a little catching up, I missed your boys going away for easter. My boys will go away for the very first time this summer, and I'm still not sure I'm going to adjust to the idea. Anyhow, I was just going to comment on the easter bread, and say that I remember those special buns from a trip to Calabria I took over easter years ago.
