I'm playing by myself, Mom, he replied, as he ran by, clad in camo pants and jacket, Nerf gun in hand. The helicopter circling overhead and the sirens in the distance, a normal scenario on a weeknight, lent a bit of eerie reality to the scene. But, it still seems incongruous, sometimes, that I'm the mother of boys.
Someone needs to keep us safe.
ReplyDeleteIt seems so incongruous to me that there is a place that is not covered in snow, that is not so bloody cold.
ReplyDeleteThe land of make believe...long may it reign!
ReplyDeleteFrom a fellow mom of boys, I totally get this! At first glance! xo
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like he was having a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with my 1st husband, an only child, when he told me how he played tennis alone, running around from side to side trying to playing as though he had a partner. I have to say, he became a heck of tennis player as an adult!
ReplyDeleteOliver is fabulous. And I like your street, too, with its trees and sidewalks (and your stone walk).
After we had the three girls,I could not imagine having boys. And then came two.Wow.What a difference and even yet, a difference between the two of them.
ReplyDeleteI tell you,Oliver and Joe.Together.That I have a feeling would be a real trip.
Love the previous post.Still cannot believe that my Taylor has been in that beauty for a year.Lucky girl.
He is so incredibly wonderful to me that I lack the words to explain it.
ReplyDeleteCatching the rays as if the energy of the sun is all he needs to win his battle, fighting the invisible warriors, running after them. I hope you gave him some ice cream when he came in. A warrior needs more than rays to keep up the good work.
I totally know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteFrom the mother of two boys~thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
You'll be sitting in the front row when he collects his best director academy award. I love this kid! I'll be on my living room couch, cheering.
ReplyDeleteFrom the mother of two girls - thanks for the glimpse.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter walked in as I was chuckling over just the title of this post, and asked what I was laughing about. I told her that you had written a post about Oliver, and just reading the title made me anticipate a funny story... he's VERY stealth in those photos : )
ReplyDeleteBoys do come from a different planet, I think. As it should be.
ReplyDeleteBoys are definitely not girls.
ReplyDeletesort of a swat , starsky and hutch , rambo thing,
