From the archives

You know, I've written a lot of damn posts. Nearly two thousand posts, actually. And lately I'm hard-pressed to write anything of worth at all. But I do love this blog, love the toil of it, the inspiration I get from my blogging community, the comments, the connections, the everything. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that blogging has changed my life in the profoundest of ways. I try to come here, to the blank screen, at least once and sometimes twice daily to jot down my thoughts or post a poem or a photo or tell a silly or a sad story. I come more than once or twice to read all of your posts. It's all good.

I'm feeling a little dry, though, dry like the southern California air in October. Dry like tinder, needing just a tiny spark to flame up and spread.

I randomly went through my archives, and this is the first thing I landed on. I'm going to be lazy and re-post it.

A Reposting of Trapeze Artistry and Humor

Now, I'm off to sell popcorn on the street with Oliver for his dang Cub Scout Troop.

And then I'm headed for a day of complete and utter pleasure, I think. But more on that later.

  1. Oh Elizabeth! I remember that one! A great one!
And sometimes I sit down with no idea whatsoever of what I will write and then, like today, one small thing leads to another and suddenly, I am swimming in words.
It's a sort of miracle to me.
    Please have a wonderful day.

  2. I try to explain this community I belong to on the world wide web, to my friends that don't blog, and they just don't get it. I try to explain that connection and that bond and it is inexplicable and some just don't get it. In your case, in our case, we are lucky to live close and have spent time together and we are friends... how great is that?

And your day, hope it works out and that it is wonderful. Can't wait to hear all about it. As for me, family photos for 10. Fun times. Will be done by noon or so, is that too early to start drinking? Cuz I just might need one or two or five.

  3. Ditto what Zoe's mom said...I don't know how many times I've seen eyes roll when I mention that I blog.

This is a sustaining community, and I'm a better person for it. Reminds me of having penpals when I was in grade school, only this is a kind of group penpal situation, and even better for the instant gratification it allows.

We're fragile creatures, every one of us, and we're also fierce creatures, or we wouldn't be here.

    Bless you.

  4. I think about you often Elizabeth. I am sending you love and energy. Enough to get through these moments. My energy is pretty sapped right now but I still an sending you a piece of mine because I love this blogging community. I have been blogging for almost eight years and yes, it has been life changing.

  5. Know what's so funny? My blog has a re-post on it today, too. sometimes you just gotta mine the good stuff once again and know that's OK. You have plenty of new readers who never saw it the first time, and some old ones who won't mind reading it again.

  6. Remember that song by Leon Russell "Tightrope"? That is what I thought when I read your repost.
