Word Verification
I know that I read on Ms. Moon's blog that the new word verification requirements and procedures on Blogger are supposed to be a way to preserve some of the old typesets or something like that, and while I enjoy a good typeset, I haven't enjoyed entering weird word and number combinations over and over the last few days on other people's blogs. I've also gotten far fewer comments on my own blog despite a huge surge in visitors, so I can only imagine hundreds of you peering at the screen and trying to decipher the blurry configurations only to give up any attempts to either agree with my damnatory words about Santorum or damn me to hell for my heresy.
So, I've dismantled my own word verification and fully expect the comments to pour in, both spam and otherwise.
Let's see what happens.

ReplyDeleteI removed mine too. I had left comments on blogs and checked back later and they were gone. I hope they go back to the old word verification.
ReplyDeleteThey have become increasingly annoying.
ReplyDeleteNow let's see how many weirdos and bots you attract.
Thank goodness. I've been unable to comment here for sometime. I think there's also something on blogger blogs that seems to dislike wordpress identities.
ReplyDeleteBrave! What's the etiquette here - do you delete the spam (leaving us all to wonder you managed to piss you off?) or leave it up for us to riff on the viag** ads?
ReplyDelete...hmm. actually might be fun!
I can't deal with the damn spam. Sorry. And here's what I think- I think that if you get CLOSE on that weird word that looks like smeary ???? you'll pass.
ReplyDeleteI am with Ms.Moon on the fact that if you are close, you pass. And why I know this to be true .. I know for certain I have not gotten the crazy combos right and still, voila, there is my comment.
ReplyDeleteFor me, no word verification because I moderate. Just what happens because of the nasty people out there. But my spam folder ... always full.
You are right! On your previous post, I tried eight times with the word verification. You may wonder why I kept at it. Well, I got to the point that I was GOING TO GET IT RIGHT. I carefully copied those words. I came away feeling paranoid--like the word verification fairy had it out for me. Hope your taking it off doesn't cause you a problem. I took my off a few years back and haven't had any ill effects--yet.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
While incredibly more and more annoying, WV's often offer up surprisingly instinctive language.
ReplyDeleteWhat a strange world we inhabit.
Also, I got rid of WV's on my blog, and the following day, I HAD TO DO A WORD VERIFICATION ON MY OWN BLOG while answering a comment. WTF?!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate the new verification, too, and have considered moving my blog to Wordpress. It would be a pain in the butt, but it would also solve the issue of Blogger being in bed with Google, who I increasingly can't stand for their ridiculously slimy conservative politics...
ReplyDeleteWhat's a girl to do?
Glad to see it go - here, there and everywhere
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Shall I join in the experiment? I get a lot of hits, but not many comments. Maybe that's more about content that word verification.
ReplyDeleteHey...maybe THAT'S why I only get an average of less than 5 per post. Yeah, that's it...:)
ReplyDeleteyeah, whats UP with that weird word verification sh*t? it got so complicated lately. but nothing would stop me from commenting :)
ReplyDeletesigh... let me know how you fare. the first day i took off word verification i got beseiged with spam. so for now i have it turned on again.
