Mutant Rose Bush from Ralph's

I swear that I have never fed this potted rose bush that I bought more than ten years ago at Ralph's, our grocery store

Take another look:

If only money grew on trees.

  1. Ralph's must be a pretty good grocery.

  2. Do you know that roses are bred to survive just about anything? In ancient Rome they used to burn all their roses to the ground every 100 years or so, as unlike the modern ones - modern ones are grafted - they were own root and so they would comeback true to form and color and healthier I guess, since all kind of diseases or pests were quickly taking care of by the fire.

Your floribunda is a cute one.

  3. Talk about your floribunda, wow! This is a great one. A bouquet of roses on a stem.

  5. I love it! And how fun that you have those eyes & nose on the tree - we have those, too! But ours aren't sniffing gorgeous roses, as yours are.
You could offer to do an ad for Ralph's floral department, and use your story and that photo. I'd buy, based upon your photos and testimony!

  9. I think the rule of survival of the fittest must apply to grocery store roses .... our best peony plant came from the grocery store
