Aunt Yvonne

My beloved Aunt Yvonne died last weekend, and I headed up to northern California on Monday to attend her funeral. Aunt Yvonne was a wonderful lady who had a long and prosperous life. I'll miss her gentle spirit and regal presence, as well as her incredible generosity. I'm grateful for the extra time that I got to spend with her over the past seventeen years in California, this incredible state that she and I, both east coast transplants, loved. She will be missed.

  10. How we love them, these women who lead before us and kindly leave a trail. She is imprinted there, so never really gone.
Your sorrow and gratitude are a tribute to her, Elizabeth. And I am sad at the loss for both of you.

  11. oh, a sad farewell. I love this photo of her -- it reminds me of my regal and rather eccentric grandmother Nadine. You were lucky to have one another. xo

  12. Your Aunt Yvonne looks like a very strong and assured woman. I'm sure you will miss her dearly. I lost a dear Aunt a few months ago and in many ways she was a kindred spirit. It's so hard to lose someone.
