All I got

is this, which you've probably already seen, but it made me chortle, laugh and roll:

(I love both of them)

It's the hands

Mary Moon posted this photo and this story today on her blog, and I'm not embarrassed to say that if I were the type lady who swooned, I would have swooned. The hands of that man entwined with the hands of his namesake just do me in. In fact, I've been percolating a post about hands -- Sophie's hands, my son Henry's hands, Oliver's hands, my father's hands, Clinton's hands. I've got a little more meat for that post, so stay tuned.

I'm trying, I really am. I'm trying to keep my spirits up, to be grateful, to do my meditation and breathing and exercise and reaching out and reaching in. I'm waking up on the early side to be reverent, to revel in the words of Jack Kornfield's new book A Lamp in the Darkness: Illuminating the Path Through Difficult Times. I'm delighting in my boys' escapades and grateful when Sophie has a good moment. The weather is outrageously beautiful. I saw this photo on Andrew Sullivan's blog yesterday, and my good friend D pointed out that it was taken about two blocks away from my house, yesterday morning at 10:15 am.

There's nothing like Los Angeles'  light and skies and clouds and skyline when it's clear.

So there's all of that.

This morning, I turned on the radio as I drove Sophie to school and heard the crusty voice of Bill Clinton being interviewed about his new book. I don't know about you, but I still love Bill Clinton. I don't care, and never did, about his sexual peccadilloes and when I hear his voice, I sit up and listen. Call me stupid, call me naive, tell me I'm a sucker, but I sit up and listen and always, always feel like here's a man who knows what's going on, who's brilliant and passionate and engaged in every sense of the word and he makes me feel better about that world.

Today, I feel better about that world -- at least as long as Obama is in charge and the whole pack of Republican candidates for president keep digging those graves of theirs.

There you go.

I hope you all have a good day. I'm going to try.
