During and after the rain

We made cookies and ate them for both breakfast and lunch. We watched True Grit, and I was taken by surprise given all the gun-shooting, western stuff. Can we talk about this movie? I know I'm late to the game, but was that the most incredible and incredibly weird and wonderful stilted and formal writing and speech you've ever heard in a movie? I loved it. Jeff Bridges? I love him. That girl? I loved her. Matt Damon? I loved him and his silly Texas ways. Iris Dement singing at the end? I loved it. That last shot? Gorgeous.

I love Iris Dement. All the rest, not so much.

Oh, I do like the idea of cookies for breakfast and lunch. Dinner too.

Best,
Bonnie

I GOTTA watch that movie.
I wish I had some of those cookies. I haven't had supper yet and it's time for bed and they would be perfect.

Cookies in the middle of the night too. Calories don't count between midnight and 8 a.m.

Why do your chocolate chip cookies look so much better than mine? Oh that's right, you ARE a pastry chef. Forgot. I think I need your recipe. Really!

My dear friend Belinda's very first scene, in the very first movie she ever did, was a nude love scene with Jeff Bridges. Could you imagine?!! She said he was very sweet and respectful. And sexy.

I haven't seen the movie, but I read Charles Portis's book years ago and I loved that. I'll have to check out the film now. (I thought it never rained in California? Was that '70s pop song lying to me?)

Happy Snow Day to you and the gang. What a great idea.

My husband likes the original True Grit with John Wayne but like you, I am more partial to Jeff Bridges!
