Beverly Hills Baseball Field Signs (this is not a joke)
You see? In Beverly Hills, you have to be admonished not to drink martinis and smoke cigarettes while watching your son play baseball. And let's not even talk about the poor grammar (am I right that "is" should be "are?")
I struggle with grammar (where's my editor?) all the time. I want to be corrected. You might see what happens if you contact the Department of Parks and Recreation. Good luck.
I'm also struggling with "anyhoo and anyways"--what the....?
Wow, that is such a great sign, I'm shocked it hasn't been stolen off that fence. Obviously folks in Beverly HIlls are too busy smoking and drinking martinis to bother with petty theft.
Maybe it is correct grammar and you are only prohibited from doing the two things together. Smokand AND drinking IS prohibited, but either alone are fine.
I think grammatically it is correct...don't you split the sentence to see if it's correct? I.e., smoking is prohibited. consumption is prohibited. Please keep in mind I'm going off 8th grade grammar memories here.
LOL! Well, that park sounds like a WHOLE LOTTA FUN! ha! Only in Beverly hills. The parks in NJ just warn you to pick up your dog shit... in proper english :)
LOL -- I had the same thought as Ms Moon, that smoking and martinis are one combined unit. I love the thought of some bejewelled Beverly Hills mom sitting in the stands in sunglasses and furs, clutching a martini. :)
Professional hitters will step out the box and look for the base coaches baseball signs when the game situation might call for an offensive play like a bunt, steal, or hit and run play.
It's like that's one thing- you must smoke when you drink martinis. Maybe? Where's the joint and the beer sign?

ReplyDeleteCould this be the result of the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" attending their kids' games?

ReplyDeleteMakes me think that Frank Sinatra may have attended a game or two at that field.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you're right. It should be "are."
You're right. "Is" should be "are." Two things are prohibited. Plural.
ReplyDeleteMy personal fascination is with the picture, the smoked item tucked into the glass.
someone was paid the big bucks for that graphic
ReplyDeleteI think "is" would be correct because they mean either/or and not just both
Is or are? They both seem correct. I think I need a nap after all this thinking.
