Oliver: When I get to be a grown-up, I'm going to have a mansion with a pool inside.
Henry: I'm going to have one, too, and I'll also have a room in it with carpeting on the walls so that Sophie can never hurt herself. There will be everything soft in there. And maybe a robot that will tell us what she says when she goes MMMMMMM.
The Husband: Will you take care of me when I'm old?
Oliver: No. You should live on the street.
Henry: Maybe you and Mom can go to an old folks' home.
YIKES!!!
Sounds like they are all set to take care of Sophie ... maybe a get away to the old folk's home sooner rather than later ain't such a bad idea. Sign me up ... !
ReplyDeleteInteresting worldview! So much compassion for Sophie's needs, but for the elderly, not so much (at this point)! Aren't they funny...so sweet, in their own way. And they are handsome guys!
ReplyDeleteOh Henry is SO sweet. And of course they think the parents will be just fine, no matter what. That says you are doing your job. They view you as strong and unharmable.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE this conversation :)
ReplyDeleteIt was always a bit disconcerting when one of my young ones would ask me, "Can I have this when you die?" holding up a skillet or a necklace or something they thought they'd like. Honest little buggers, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteEven when I feel achy and troubled because my vitals are all over the place I come here and I either get mad at the politicians, love your poetry choices or I want to steal the two philosophers and the mermaid.
ReplyDeleteAlways.
YOur boys sound like a hoot! SO sweet of them to have such compassion for their sister...that really touches my heart! I guess they think the old folks home will be a vacation for you and your hubby & that they will tkae care of their sister for you.
ReplyDeletefunny!
