The Brothers

I don't mean to offend, but in my experience boys are simple. I'm not speaking about intelligence, but I am speaking about complexity. The more boys you put together, the simpler they get. In my experience, it's the opposite with women. Do I make sense? I am a woman, after all.

Ask these brothers the same question, and you'll always get opposite answers. It's a simple prediction, and it doesn't make for complexity.

Simplicity can drive a woman insane.

Good thing they're easy on the eye.

  1. As the mother of two boys, I can totally relate. They are, as I'm sure you know, absolutely wonderful!!

    Best,

  2. I am so excited to see if Lily is going to have another boy or a girl. It will be so interesting to watch as all unfolds, no matter which way these particular dice have rolled.
    Your boys are so beautiful.

  3. How great that they feel so free to be their uncomplicated, oppositional selves. They must know that they are unconditionally loved. Well done!

  4. They are beautiful boys, both of them. I so agree with you about boys. In fact all my conflicts with my grown boy tend to happen when I try to make what is so very simple to him, complicated. He doesn't do layers of meaning. My husband understands this perfectly of course, but I keep tripping over it.

  5. I agree with you. I have two girls and, even though they will both give opposite answers when you ask a question, they are rarely simple answers and I often have to brace myself for how long it takes to listen to them speak. One day, we will all come down to LA and you and I can switch for a day or so if we get tired of our respective realities.

  6. Delightful.
Drive those handsome fellows north and come for a visit?

  7. I like to think men are "primitive".

And I swear to baby Jebus that my kids would gather at night after I went to bed to think of ways to be contrary and disagree with one another. They did it not because they didn't get along (even though they didn't). They did it to drive me crazy and make my hair prematurely grey.

  8. They are definitely easy on the eyes. Our 19 year old grandson (a heavy metal record producer and some fine guitarist) was over for dinner and movie with his granddad and me a few nights ago. Alone and away from his sisters he's a different guy. Jumped right out of his shell; had worked hard to find a movie he thought we would like (we did); was happy as a clam I'd made his favorite dish; and just generally sweet as sugar (no screamo).

  9. I know what you mean and I think you're right, generally speaking. Boys are just more straightforward. (I'm not sure I agree with "primitive," though, Birdie -- LOL!) My brother and I used to drive my mom crazy in the same way.

  10. I agree. Our two were like that all growing up and it's not appreciably different now, at 30 and 28. Good thing they too are easy on the eyes - as are yours!

  11. Being a mom of boys, I would agree. This is often a good thing.
