Sophie's next seizure treatment?

An evidence-based medicine approach to therapeutics requires scientific demonstration of a drug's efficacy as well as knowledge of short- and long-term adverse events that must be balanced against the drug's potential benefits. All of this information is lacking regarding the effects of smoking marijuana in the treatment of epilepsy. More research is needed before patients should consider marijuana for seizure relief, particularly because this represents criminal activity under US federal law and may be accompanied by adverse medical (and legal) events.

Damn. I was hoping that this might be an option for us.

I was adamantly against the use of Marijuana until my mom got cancer and nothing else worked for pain and nausea. It is legal here in Canada, with a doctors Rx to use it and many, many people have benefited from it. Unfortunately, we now have a conservative government who will make it illegal again. Selfish bastards.

In California it's legal with a prescription. I know of some people who have tried it for seizure control.

Exactly who is this Dr. Wilner ? Kind of a buzz kill, isn't he?

Here's how I imagine it: you smoke it, and exhale it into Sophie's face. Wave the joint around for some 2nd-hand benefits, too. Win-win situation, yes?

please include me in the circle!:) But, honestly, why not look into it: weed is certainly more natural and less harmful than any other drug.

I'm wondering now if my son had a seizure disorder that I was unaware of and was treating it:)

Maybe glaucoma too.

right. they approve stuff ALL the time, only to whip it off the market when people die from it. why? because that stuff makes them millions of dollars, and pot is an easy-to-grow plant. same thing with bioidentical hormones. they can't make money off of them because they are made from yams.

i wonder about pot sometimes... if it would help me with the symptoms of my illness. i like karen's idea for you... win/win :)

I'll bring my hookah....Sometimes I forget where I am and that I am a fundamentalist Christian and rant on about how Marijuana should be legalized and some friends are horrified. It's no use explaining how cigarettes and alcohol which have no medicinal value are legal and killing zillions of people yearly and that it is all political anyway...they just get that Republican glaze over their eyes while they are visualizing me going straight to hell. PS I am also a registered Republican who speaks at Move On rallies and proud of it.
