Even Santa is beginning to look distasteful.
I've tried wrinkling my nose and conjuring some sort of Mary Poppins to help me box all this crap and put it back in the attic (accessed through a hole cut in the ceiling) but no go.
Maybe I'll just curtain off the dining room and make it into a grotesque Christmas storage closet.
it's not as if you have nothing else to do.

it looks lock shocked, maniacally double helical.
ReplyDeleteOkay, truly, that last line made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell? In less than a year you'll be bringing it back out. Why not?
ReplyDeleteisn't it amazing that the things you remove from the storage box so lovingly on Dec 10th or so get flung back in head first come New Years. Mine is allllllll gone as of today.
ReplyDeleteI always tell everyone that I don't take my decorations down until the Epiphany. As if I have some deep doctrinal tradition. But the truth is that I'm just lazy and that's about when I get around to it. But it sounds good.
ReplyDeleteHa! Yes, recognise the feeling. We had to pack up all the stuff last weekend. Luckily my wife doesn't really go crazy over Xmas like some of our neighbours do. I wish you the best of luck with your tidying up.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your beautiful family!
Greetings from London.
One year I took half the stuff and put it in garbage bags and sent it to a new high school so they could use it for the following year to decorate. I used to do the Epiphany thing too, but not this year. It's all binned and shelved and the tree is on the curb gathering fresh snow.
ReplyDeleteThat is a little scary. Shut the door and return 11 months later. Or....put those beautiful boys to work!
ReplyDeleteI've found that if I purchase an enormous roll of bubble wrap, I can convince the children to help me wrap some of it up before they go back to school. It takes some time, what with the popping of all the bubbles inbetween each and every damn piece, but I get help...
