The Summer 2011 list is pretty much filled in -- with notable exceptions:
Note: That's "Prepare Dinner for Family" -- meaning, the kids prepare dinner for family.
Oliver's newly acquired trophy collection is artfully arranged in his room, at the foot of his bed:
Yesterday, in a pique of boredom, Oliver blew up the 6-foot tall palm tree and cleaned it thoroughly.
He then disappeared for what seemed like hours, and when I finally found him, this is what I saw:
My take from the Shut-Up envelope is $11.00. Since making more would have been counter-productive to the scheme's aim, I'm happy.
Happy Labor Day. I'm ready for school to start on Wednesday.
There is still time to tick off "dinner" with 17 more days of summer. Don't know if I still have time for that tan though!!
ReplyDeleteSweet boy wore himself out on the tree cleaning.
Best,
Bonnie
Is that your white poodle? I have never seen him/her before.
ReplyDeletePreparing dinner is overrated. Consider the cat method.
I think Oliver is now fully entitled to keep his palm tree - you know, for shade at nap time and all :)
ReplyDeletesloppy joes with ground turkey are easy! there's still time!
ReplyDeleteOliver sounds like my kind of kid.
ReplyDeleteOh sweet Oliver, you are just something else. You never fail to bring a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteFell short on a few of your whiteboard items, but all in all, we didn't do too bad. Thank you again for the inspiration.
Is it ok to have favorites?
ReplyDeleteHe is one of my all time.
So glad the inflatable palm tree was put to good use :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just boggled that the Lavender Farm was visited but dinner was not made for the family.
ReplyDeleteWell, who had time for dinner-making with all of that summer fun going on?
oh my god, i laughed and laughed. that oliver! the trophies. the fit of cleaning followed by a proper nap under the palm tree. what a kid!
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor Day to you. I love seeing him under that quilt. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteYour summer list was exactly what we needed this summer (well, our list, but inspired by you). Our missing items include a visit to the giant bottle of ketchup & camping in the backyard. Though camping in lawnchair under giant inflatable palm tree sounds good too!
ReplyDeleteSweet!
ReplyDeleteAre Oliver's awards for soccer and baseball?
Yes, I didn't know you had a dog. You'll have to blog about the dog! xo
Yay! I'm so glad you revisited the summer list. And, don't worry too much about the things that went undone - those are the things you can carry over to next summer. My trick was to sign the girls up for cooking classes one week and then tell them their final "grade" rested on the night where they put those newfound skills to use. They made cheese enchiladas, black bean and corn salad, and flan. YUM! Best summer camp money ever spent!
ReplyDeletelove this :)
