When I have a terrible need of — shall I say the word — religion. Then I go out and paint the stars.
Vincent Van Gogh

**Van Gogh is a famous epileptic and therefore dear to my heart. Stumbling upon this quote on Facebook this morning seemed significant and has effectively dispelled my Easter melancholy. Read the whole letter here.
I'm happy your melancholy was chased away. I'm happy to say my mood has improved immeasurably too. Sometimes we just need to hang on and let the minutes trundle by. Why don't I ever remember this? Happy Easter, dear friend. Enjoy your babies.

ReplyDeleteI know of no other artist like that
We start with a vase of flowers and, after gaining confidence, end with a face
To include the stars is a wonderful thing
He was a true artist
To me Easter is another Sunday. And every Sunday is significant and special in it's way ... And I'm always reminded of The Love of One Who is Greater than all of it. The maker of stars.
p.s. after reading your earlier post with the Yeats poem, I've ordered a book of his collected poems from Amazon. I am still envisioning the embroidered coat that was a song
You ever watch Doctor Who? Great show, and there is a fantastic episode from a season or two ago that focuses on Vincent Van Gogh that is one of my favorites ever. It is worth watching if you are a fan of the artist. This painting in particular gets a very nice scene...
