Beautiful cake! It makes my mouth water just looking at it. I love coconut cake. My new favorite is the Cooks Illustrated recipe made with coconut extract and cream of coconut.

Coconut cake reminds me of my beloved grandmother. When I spied that white tower of cake goodness sitting on the chest freezer on the screen porch - I was ecstatic. She made it with real coconut, (where did she get that in rural Georgia?!) in a wood burning oven and it was magic.
