If you can sit quietly after difficult news; if in financial downturns you remain perfectly calm; if you can see your neighbors travel to fantastic places without a twinge of jealousy; if you can happily eat whatever is put on your plate; if you can fall asleep after a day of running around without a drink or a pill; if you can always find contentment just where you are: you are probably a dog.
Jack Kornfield from A Lamp in the Darkness
Oh my God, that's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Envy is my Achilles' heel for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh my god. I was feeling SO bad until I got to the last five words and I breathed a sigh of relief.
ReplyDeleteI am NOT a dog. Sadly.
Oh my gosh, so true, so true.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am so happy for the reminder that Jack Kornfield has a new book out.
LOL! I love this. Of course, we have cats.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm dog-sitting this week, so maybe I'll learn something.
Love it.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me while I get up to give my huge pooch a hug...
ReplyDeleteYou could not have expressed life in a better or more succinct way.....BTW, Adam's dog, Ollie, is a pint-sized version of the pictured one....
ReplyDeleteI NEED TO BE A DOG! And I LOVE this post so so so much! Made me laugh hysterically. Well, maybe chuckle hysterically. Can you chuckle hysterically?
ReplyDeleteI don't know Jack Kornfield. Now I'm off to look him up on amazon.
Classic. Love Jack. Used to go hear him speak, he was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThere are times I wish I could be of a mind like a dog. Such forgiveness...such devotion...such rewards of a tender lick when all seems awful in a day. I guess that is why I surround myself with pets. At least they accept me for who I am to them.
ReplyDeleteHa! this is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteFunny! Thanks for the smile!
ReplyDeleteI love that .... My dog is sleeping his life away
