Haiku my heart Friday

The old gray mare, she
ain't what she used to be, ain't
what she used to be.

Yah. It's my birthday today, and I'm forty-seven years old. I love birthdays and never feel depressed (except maybe the year someone gave me a windsock for a present). I like getting older and while I don't feel wiser, I do feel different, like I'm coming along. Most days, I feel a bit of that old gray mare thing, stiff and stubborn and perhaps a bit dim and dumb. Stubborn. But I'm coming along.

  1. Happy happy birthday to you sweet Elizabeth! I hope you'll have an amazing day and you'll be showered with lots of love and affection. Old gray mare :) You will always be beautiful, even at 99. You just have that quality.

  2. The Happiest of Birthday songs are being sung to you.

not from me I can't sing,
    I'll stick to typing here.
and you can feel my hug, and I'll be thinkin' on what sort of drink to have in your honour later when the sun is setting, what do you suggest?

I am honoured to have met you, to celebrate this day with you even in this small way. Wishing you love from all your loves, young and old , near and far and cyber.

  7. What a perfect haiku! It's a folk-art haiku!
Oh, Elizabeth. I woke up this morning and thought, "It's Elizabeth's birthday!"
How I wish I could have you all to myself for an hour today, just to look into those gorgeous eyes of yours, to laugh with you and tell you in person how very glad I am that you are on the same planet at the same time that I am.

  11. Happy, happy birthday! I read this quote last year and love it: "Because time itself is like a spiral, something special happens on your birthday each year: the same energy that God invested in you at birth is present once again."

    Blessings!
