Brava!! What a great piece--it really resonated with me--particularly the opening, feeling that sense of change and remove from another self.Happy Belated Birthday! It seems a good time was had by all.
Wonderful essay. Of course we're defined by our relationships -- it's only through those relationships that we become who we are. We can't speculate on what might have been if things had been different -- we cannot know who that person would have been. I love your reflection on the person you've become because of Sophie, the person you are to your whole family.
This is so beautiful!! As are you. xo
Congratulations, Elizabeth! So glad your thoughts are receiving wider exposure.
Beautifully written, Elizabeth!! This is the first time I have posted a comment. I enjoy your blog and reading about your family, your struggles, your triumphs, and especially your beautiful Sophie. I have 4 children, all adopted from Korea, two with special needs. I found you on Hopeful Parents, which has been an encouragement to me often. Thanks for sharing your heart!Carrie T. - mom to 4 from Korea
