Corner View Wednesday

Jane from Spain Daily is the "leader" of this tour around corners of the world. This week's theme is Modes of Transportation. After clicking on all the incredibly beautiful websites that are a part of this project and feeling increasingly jealous that I don't live in Spain or Italy or France or Japan or even the Middle East, it's difficult to even write about the subject.

I live in Los Angeles, home of the car and all the horrible stuff that goes with it. People are INTO their cars, here, despite high gas prices. They live in their cars, talk in their cars, and work in their cars. Not a day goes by that I don't see some outlandishly expensive vehicle -- a Maserati, a Lamborghini, a Ferrari. My kids play a silly game called Audi where they count how many Audis we pass.

There are car washes on just about every corner and hordes of unskilled men who make a living washing these overpriced, conspicuous modes of transportation.

As you can see, I actually don't give a damn about cars, the primary mode of transportation where I live. But this morning I'm struck by how I'd LIKE to travel.

Here are some beautiful places to visit:

jane, ian, bonnie, esti, sophie, modsquad, caitlin, joyce, ani, couturecoucou, kim, a day that is dessert, natsumi, epe, kaylovesvintage, trinsch, c.t., jeannette, outi, schanett, ritva, dongdong, francesca, state of bliss, jennifer, dana, denise, cabrizette, bohemia girl, ruth, dianna, isabelle, amber, a girl in the yellow shoes, mister e, janis, kari, jgy, jenna, skymring, elizabeth, audrey, allison, lise, cate, mon, victoria, crescent moon, erin, otli, amy, ida, caroline, lisa, dorte, kimmie, la lune dans le ciel, nicola, malo, samanth

  1. I hope you can travel soon. I'm glad I found your blog.

  2. You said it perfectly!! I completely agree!! Loved your comment... I'd love to see what how ridiculous we look in 100 years!

Your blog and writing is amazing. What an incredible journey you and your family are on. I can't imagine the number of families you are helping along in their own journey. Thank you for sharing. My thoughts and prayers will be with you!

  3. Well said. Thanks for a lovely corner view!

  4. What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

  5. Enjoyed reading your post. And I'd like to fly high too!!
    Thanks for sharing.

  6. hot air balloon rides look like so much fun. we use to see more of them during the spring and summer until they knocked downt the apple orchards and built homes. It was a sad day for me to see the ochards go. thanks for sharing.

  7. yes, I would like to get in the hot balloon too. That would be cool.

  8. A hot air balloon is a very peaceful and gentle ride (from what my mom says - who went up in one on her 70th)

I remember the hordes of benz's and beemers from when I lived "down there" .... now I live in diesel pick up truck-land ... and not a car wash to be found anywhere. Changes in latitudes :)

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog! oye, doesn't Corner View give you the biggest travel bug ever?!

  10. Hey Elizabeth-I´m sorry to be arriving so late. Love this post. We play a similar game with the km markers. You have to say "uno" when you see one. Makes long trips go by faster... Hugs-Jane
