Eye Contact

So, I'm not going to be writing very much on this blog for the next few I don't know how longs as I tend to some personal things, but I just had to post this photo that I took this afternoon as I exited the place where Oliver takes his saxophone lesson. I was walking out the door back to my car, and this dog was sitting in a van in the passenger seat looking straight at me. We made really good eye contact, and I almost thought he was going to either wink at me or say something. He didn't move but just sat there and gazed on me and me on him.

I finally broke the stare and walked by the car, saw that his tag read Caspar. Here's a close-up.

Honestly, if there's such a thing as a spirit animal, I believe I met mine this afternoon in the alley behind the music store on Ventura Blvd. I have no idea what it all means, but it's got to mean something.

  2. A white dog has got to be a good omen. Especially such a wolfish one.

  4. He looks like a cross between a dog and a polar bear. What huge positive energy he emits! It comes through the photo. May his gaze bestow a silent blessing upon you. We'll miss you here, and will look forward to your return.

  5. I swear he's smiling at you! Hope the personal things go swiftly and smoothly and you're back to writing soon (selfishly). What a gorgeous animal.

  6. Such an interesting encounter. The fact that it occurred to you it might be your spirit animal probably means that it is. Certainly this beautiful creature seems to be a centering force. All will be well. We'll be here, waiting.

  7. I hope he wasn't closed up in that van -- he looks awfully big and fluffy to be in a warm car! But he seems pretty content, doesn't he? We'll miss your presence in blogland!

  9. My little gurrier mongrel plays with one of these guys on our walk - a Samoyed. Our friend's name is Vanya and he's one, and very exuberant. He's always immaculately groomed, and when they play he jumps too and fro a lot, swirls and whirls around, and his long coat swishes so that he resembles a flying cloud more than a dog, something from a Japanese movie. Such beauty.

He's a sweetheart too, if not particularly interested in doing what he's told. I do always feel full of happiness when he runs up to greet us.
