Another sight for sore eyes
This is Sophie and me, looking at each other in The Neurologist's office. We had a good visit with the doctor, not much was said or done, but it was pleasant, Sophie's health is good, and I enlisted The Doctor to really help me with the drug and insurance situation. I'm grateful for Sophie's relative stability (if you call having one to three giant tonic-clonic seizures a day stable, but that's where we are!) and for her sweet attention to me in the office yesterday. We've been doing these doctor visits for nearly eighteen years and have them down.

That is such a sweet exchange!
ReplyDeletebeautiful snapshot. xo
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice picture. I am glad to hear that things are good. I have been waiting two weeks for an appointment to get into to see the neurologist. Something is wrong with the referal or something.
ReplyDelete"Her eyes will sustain you."
ReplyDeleteI do not want for either of you that you have these visits down. I hate it. I hate it that you have to know so well how to do them.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of the way you sustain each other. Yes, her eyes may sustain you but there is no doubt in my heart and mind that your eyes are her very life.
Sweet Sophie. She loves you so. And she knows how much you love her.
ReplyDeleteSuch a moving picture, you've got me in tears again.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading "Brain on Fire", in which tonic-clonic seizures are discussed briefly, in relation to a virus, in this case. Wow.
Love to you and Sophie.
I heard the writer of that book on NPR -- sounds riveting. How is her book?
DeletePure love captured in that shot.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo, it's so gorgeous. I am with you, my friend, for each of those daily tonic-clonics. Knock wood, we've had a dry spell over here (thank God), but somehow I still feel them in my heart, every day. Love to you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet photo. The intensity of your gaze into each other's eyes is beautiful. She is simply lovely, like her mother.
ReplyDeleteSustenance.

Yes. It's so obvious she loves you and she knows you love her.

what a sweet, sweet photo of mother and daughter.
ReplyDeleteI love that the doctor has been enlisted and that nothing major happened at the appointment. There is something to be said for sustaining relationships with physicians who are on your side.
ReplyDeleteJust wrote a review of "Brain on Fire" for bookpleasures.com. Quick, easy read. (Too quick to buy it in hardback, I'd say). ;-)
I am sure after 18 years you do have those doctor visits down. It is a odd accumulation of skills we mother oft acquire. Sometimes I crave for the type of tangible skill that would result in something that I could carry into someone's home and show to others, or a skill that would result in the deposit of copious amounts of cash into my banking account! Unfortunately, my skill at navigating doctor appointments remains a largely hidden and unacknowledged talent.
ReplyDeleteSo many times your photographs capture the soulful beauty that lies beneath, this is one of them. It's captivating, thank you for sharing it.
