Everyone should carefully observe which way
his heart draws him, and then choose that way with all his strength.
Hasidic saying
It's very quiet here this morning. The Brothers and The Husband left for New York City yesterday afternoon, and this morning when I woke up next to Sophie, I imagined the house breathing more quietly, the air less electric or fraught with energy. I thought it was one hour later than it actually was, and as I busied myself in the kitchen, preparing Sophie's breakfast and lunch, my coffee, I felt the day encroaching, a bit of dread, the empty house, the bills to be paid, how will we do it, and I walked down the hallway and saw that Sophie was still sleeping, curled on her bed, and as I tucked the blanket around her and smoothed her hair, I was enveloped in her peace and so I chose that.
Oh. I love the quote and the post. I hope the New York trip is fun for the boys and I hope your quiet house is filled with peace today. There is something special about our sleeping children. In that sweet moment before I kiss Lola on the cheek to wake her up, my heart always stills and I remember the purity of love. Have a fabulous day.
ReplyDeleteAnd may nothing be allowed to intrude upon that peace.
ReplyDeleteI am blown away by the love you have for your beautiful daughter that just shines through this post. She is lucky to have you and you her. Sweet Jo
ReplyDeleteGood choice!
ReplyDeleteYour photo seems to whisper peace and quiet...and neatness (without The Boys)
ReplyDeleteToday I choose the same. With a side of joy.
ReplyDeleteI am wishing for that peace to remain with you for this day and beyond my friend.
Oh, good.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote. I love your house.
I will try and choose peace, too.
oh, you made me cry.
ReplyDeleteI love you
love the saying. Love the photo: it says "home" to me. As does sleeping Sophie and the peace and quiet. As for the bill paying, etc. etc., you know how to do it one step at a time. I know you do. xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDelete"And so I chose that." Oh yes. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time together. We got some quiet time together during Max's spring break and it brought everything back to order.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was a wise choice.
ReplyDeletethank you for this. the photo, the quote, your words. i needed them all, this morning.
ReplyDeleteThe streaks of light - so lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy children are both napping, the dogs outside, and my husband off at work. I dread late Sunday afternoons, because it will all begin again Monday morning, but I too am snatching at a few moments of peace... Cheers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful saying. I don't remember hearing it before - thank you for posting it.
