from Wim Wenders "Wings of Desire"
To converse with the greats
To converse with the greats
by trying their blindfolds on;
to correspond with books
by rewriting them;
to edit holy edicts,
and at the midnight hour
to talk with the clock by tapping a wall
in the solitary confinement of the universe.
-- Vera Pavlova
Oh yes!
ReplyDeleteOh do I love that movie....
ReplyDeleteThat movie freaked me out. I am not highbrow enough for it. I swear to god, I am not.

ReplyDeleteMs. Moon: I am HARDLY highbrow although I do confess to being a bit of a literary snob. Wings of Desire, to me, is about the wish, even of angels, to be alive, on earth, with all its trials and tribulations. The way these dark Germanic men fly about and listen to thoughts and silently, invisibly comfort people was a revelation to me. Give it another watch -- or not.
ReplyDeleteLike Vera Pavolova immensely.
ReplyDeleteThe new wv system, not so much...
I adore that movie.
ReplyDeleteAnd also, but less slightly less adoringly, "Faraway, So Close".
