How to Bond With Your Child Despite The Fact That You're Old
At the urging of The Brothers, I downloaded Trivia Crack on my phone and proceeded to get -- yes -- addicted to it. During a rousing game today, Oliver had this question under the history tab:
Which was one of the first North American settlements?
The answer, of course, was Jamestown (the game is multiple choice), and Oliver was very excited to get it.
I said, And who was it that taught you that? BOOM!
Evidently, I pushed the bonding moment one infinitesimal bit too far because I got an enormous eye roll and this:
Some crazy loser woman who says BOOM!
I slunk off, vowing not to ever use the word BOOM! again, at least in the presence of a millennial.

Aaah...hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so much like my relationship with my 20 year old. Love it! She is now old enough that I don't stop saying BOOM, etc and she sort of likes it.
ReplyDeleteWho's the most awesome mother?
ReplyDeleteElizabeth! BOOM!
I believe the correct terminology is "BAM!"
ReplyDelete;)
we live for the eye rolls around here. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe blog title alone made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha they secretly love it!
ReplyDeletePerhaps "BOOYAH!"? ;-)
ReplyDeleteApparently, the word "cool" for good, neato, keen, is "out" as well. We've simply lost touch.

Alas, Trivia Crack is now on my device as well. It is apparently "the Thing" at high school and I have to say I'm pleased to know they're doing this instead of sexting each other (well, maybe they still are sexting each other).
ReplyDeleteIn any case, we got addicted right before finals and then I decided that if some entrepreneurial teen could only create customizable questions for the kids' individual classes, studying would be much more fun! I wish I could code, because I'm pretty sure I could make a mint.
I suggest "Take that!" with an upper crust English accent.
ReplyDeleteBoom chucka chucka and a little sway in the hip a wave of the hand and you own it sister
ReplyDeleteOMG (I'm cool), I've never used the word BOOM. Thank goodness!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
