The Wild

Partly due to my respect for his pre-teen privacy and partly because he's a much quieter person than his brother, Henry hasn't made an appearance on the blog in quite some time. This weekend, though, he played in his first travel baseball tournament, part of the team called The Wilshire Wild. He played three games over two days, lost two brutally and won one triumphantly. As most of you know, I'm not a sporty lady, but I admit to swooning at the sight of my handsome boy practicing and then playing baseball. I even yelled with the other parents,

Go Wild!

Way to go Wild!

Wake Up, Wild!

  1. i know the strangely loud sounds of a mom calling out her wild child. i know the rise to implausible crowd cheering, all made possible by the love of our boys.

sports, just a conduit of pure adoration, when it is your boy playing on the fields of life.

    Go Elizabeth!

  2. Look at that handsome boy!

I get so caught up and carried away during Jude's baseball games. I never thought I'd be this way, but here I am. I cringe, I shout, I worry. I cheer. And it's fun! Who'd have guessed?

  4. You're only telling the truth when you say Henry is handsome. He has a kind of gravity that draws the eyes. Bet he draws the girls too. Go Wild!

  5. PS Thanks for asking about the Asheville article. Not sure where it is on the editor's rotation but I'm tickled to send a link when it comes out.

  6. Where the wild things are there is always fun, and your photos reflect that. I didn't realized until now that I have missed "being there". It is one of those facets of motherhood that I wouldn't have missed for the world. Enjoy yours while it lasts.

  7. I'm not sporty at all either, and watching sports bores me to death. And yet, when my boys play, I also feel like yelling - but don't, because the yelling code around tennis seems to be quieter. Go wild:)!

  10. Wow, we DID have parallel weekends! Henry looks so much older and taller all of a sudden. And handsome as ever.

GO WILD -- I love that. Abe's team is the Albany Thunder...Not as fun to cheer on, but we do get to play Thunder Road over the PA system during warm-ups at the annual home tournament.
